Tanya Parker Mills is the owner and manager at The Book Bungalow, 94 West Tabernacle Street in St. George. The indie shop sits in a historic house. It has a children’s room, open-mic nights, local-author nights, and book clubs, including a virtual mystery/thriller club and a virtual international-literature club.
She is also a novelist. The Reckoning won the 2009 Indie Book Award for Multicultural Fiction and the 2010 Writer’s Digest International Self-Published Book Award for Mainstream/Literary Fiction. A Night on Moon Hill was a 2012 Whitney Finalist. When she reads, she leans literary fiction, biography, mystery/suspense/thriller, and historical fiction, including The Poisonwood Bible, Cold Mountain, A Prince of Our Disorder, and Pope Joan.
Her son Jason Mills runs Children’s and YA, special orders, and the front register. Her husband Michael Mills is assistant manager and financial manager and builds the displays. Hours are generally Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They host Independent Bookstore Day on the front porch.
