Emily Nicolosi is the lead artist, owner, and founder of In Theory Art Studios in Huntsville. She is a painter, sculptor, and public artist.
She trained in studio art at the University of Vermont and later earned a doctorate in Geography from the University of Utah. The sculptures go after horizons of possibility: big, readable iconographic forms in intricate geometries and dichroic, iridescent materials that change with light. Some pieces add sound, narrative, and interactive electrical work.
Work has shown at festivals, museums, and public spaces from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City, Houston, and Miami. Grants include the Land Art Generator Initiative, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, and Burning Man’s Honoraria program.
The fabrication studio runs 100% solar. She uses upcycled and bio-based materials and works with computer-aided design modelers and builders around the country for install.
